Founded in 1957, the University of Waterloo is recognized as one
of the most innovative learning institutions in Canada. But when
some of the brickwork on its buildings started to deteriorate
due to moisture penetration, the University had to look beyond
the campus for help. It called on the expertise of Empire
Restoration to perform the necessary repairs. And now, 15 years
later, Empire continues to provide restoration services to the
University of Waterloo. |

Project Highlights: |
|
|
|
|
| |
-
Matching bricks and mortar were sourced
for each of the buildings.
-
Instead of replacing costly limestone
panels, Empire anchored and stabilized the existing panels
with helifix ties, thereby reducing repair costs.
-
Other services provided by Empire
included: repointing, caulking, stone repairs and
waterproofing.
